Board Opportunity
🌱 Uptown & Boogie Healthy Project is building its board — and we are looking for you.
UBHP is a Harlem and Bronx-rooted nonprofit connecting over 1,000 families each week from June to November with fresh, affordable food while training young adults for careers in agribusiness, urban agriculture, and food systems technology. Since 2021, we have built farmers markets, a CSA program, a community greenhouse, and workforce development programs that are changing what food access looks like in Upper Manhattan and the Bronx.
This year we are expanding our career readiness programming, launching our Youth Agritourism event, building a NextGen AgSector university partnership, hosting our Agriculture Impact Summit, and celebrating women through our She Grows With Us Women’s Month event.
We are rebuilding our board of directors with intention and recruiting for four seats:
- Board President
- Treasurer
- Two General Board Members
We are looking for candidates with backgrounds in finance, legal, agriculture and food systems, technology and workforce development, or community and nonprofit leadership. Board members meet quarterly per our bylaws and play an active role in governing a growing organization — not a ceremonial one.
For five years this organization has been built largely by one person, without adequate support or compensation. The board we seat this year will directly shape if UBHP reaches its full potential — or doesn’t. We are looking for people who take that responsibility seriously.
