What we do — and why it matters
Every week from June through November, we show up. We set up farmers markets in Harlem and the Bronx, bring local farmers face-to-face with families, and make sure fresh produce stays affordable and accessible — with SNAP accepted and incentive dollars that stretch every purchase further.
But we don't stop at the market table. At the same market, our Kids Club employs young adults from the community to run hands-on activities for 20+ children every Saturday — art, movement, wellness, and nutrition education, right where families already gather. Community Chef brings local chefs and culinary educators to demonstrate affordable meals made with produce from our vendors, closing the loop between buying and cooking.
Back in Central Harlem, our community greenhouse — built from scratch in 2024 — produces seedlings year-round for gardens across Upper Manhattan and the Bronx. When an upstate partner farm lost crops to flooding, we supplied transplant-ready seedlings that helped restore their harvest. Our internship program trains neighborhood young people in agribusiness, technology, and community operations.
Now we're ready to scale. We're raising funds for a refrigerated cargo van that will let us store and transport produce safely, expand our CSA routes, reduce food waste, and reach schools, health centers, and community institutions we can't serve today.
Your investment keeps all of it moving. Every dollar goes directly into the community: paying farmers, employing and training young adults, paying support staff, feeding kids, and building a food system that Harlem and the Bronx can count on — season after season.
"A refrigerated van doesn't just carry produce — it carries our ability to reach more families, waste less food, and keep small farmers profitable."
We used to rely on rideshares to get produce to our markets. That meant limiting how much we could carry — cutting directly into what local farmers could earn — and deliveries were sometimes late or didn't arrive at all.
A refrigerated cargo van changes everything. We transport produce directly from farms to both market locations, maintain a fully controlled cold chain, and eliminate the bottlenecks that slow us down. The van also carries CSA deliveries, market equipment, and SNAP items.

I come here every week to buy my produce. It's fabulous. Sometimes I get juices, I buy jewellery from people, [or] skincare products. It's really wonderful...
