Our Youth Program Offers for Children

Microgreens Project

Through partnerships with schools, our Microgreens Project focuses on educating toddlers about food nutrition and sustainability through age-appropriate, engaging learning experiences.

As part of a mission to incorporate a lifelong understanding and commitment to food nutrition, and sustainability, we start teaching children early on to create a deep bond and understanding.

Kids Club at the Market

Throughout the program, participating children and teens will receive at least $2 in market currency (POP tokens) each week, allowing them to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables.

This initiative empowers children to make healthy food choices. Each visit also earns them a stamp in their Market Passport, encouraging continued engagement and learning while simultaneously supporting the community economy and helping to subsidize food for residents.

Programs for The Young Adults

Workforce Development

Through our partnerships, we created an internship program introducing youth to agribusiness, communications, sustainability, technology, and environmental stewardship.

Interns receive training in software tools, marketing, photography, outreach, and program coordination, while youth leaders facilitate activities on healthy food, creativity, and sustainability.

Youth Agritourism

In addition to our other services, Uptown & Boogie Healthy Project invests deeply in youth development and agricultural education by creating hands-on learning opportunities in Harlem and the Bronx.

Our trips are centered around education and fun, ensuring that the youth gain a deeper understanding of farming and local and urban agriculture.

Field-Work Grad Research

Alongside project-based work, graduate students have the opportunity to conduct research at Uptown & Boogie. Regardless of their academic discipline, this collaboration provides valuable opportunities for professional and career development

This initiative is designed to give students hands-on experience working in a nonprofit organization aligned with their area of study, while showcasing the many opportunities for professional growth and knowledge within the nonprofit sector.
