Website Uptown & Boogie Healthy Project
The Uptown & Boogie Healthy Project aims to increase access to locally grown farm-fresh food, promote micro-mobility, and reduce waste through composting and textile recycling in Harlem and the Bronx. Every internship at UBHP centers around real projects that aim to solve and serve the Harlem and Bronx communities.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Responsibilities:
– Assist in the development and maintenance of mobile applications and websites for promoting healthy eating and micro-mobility
– Collaborate with the team to design user interfaces and improve user experience
– Conduct research on industry best practices and innovative mobile app features
– Support in testing and debugging applications
– Contribute to brainstorming sessions for new app features and functionalities
Required Skills and Qualifications:
– Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
– Proficiency in programming languages such as ReactJS, Java, Swift, or Kotlin
– Familiarity with using git
– Familiarity with mobile app development frameworks and tools
– Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
– Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
– Familiarity with Airtable is a plus but not required
INTERN WILL LEARN/DEVELOP:
As a software engineering intern for a non-profit organization, you have the opportunity to learn how to design software from a human-centered design and obtain the soft skills and hard skills needed to become a versatile and future innovator.
You’ll learn how to interview stakeholders, listen, and write specifications for software mobile application that meets stakeholder requirements. You will learn prototype development and the professional software development process.
